Advanced Directives typically include a Health Care Power of Attorney, also known as a Designation of Health Care Surrogate, and Living Wills. This may also include some HIPPA documentation.

The purpose of these documents are to give a trusted person, or people, the ability to legally make medical decisions on your behalf if incapacitated. They will also outline your wishes for any end-of-life you may want, or not want.

Having these documents in place allows family to know exactly what your wishes are, without guessing or potential infighting due to uncertainty. We believe the documents are a sound practice to have in place for all of our clients, and we encourage you to not delay in establishing them.
